Thorns & Light offers spiritual, educational, and referral resources rooted in the Catholic tradition. It is written to be read by anyone, including people who are not Catholic and people who no longer are.

It does not provide medical, psychiatric, psychological, therapeutic, legal, safeguarding, or emergency services, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Reading a page here is not treatment, counsel, or pastoral care.

If you are in immediate danger, or you are thinking of harming yourself or someone else, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line before using this site. The crisis page lists verified national services.

We cannot respond to emergencies. Nothing you write here reaches an on-call person, and no page here is monitored in real time.

This site is not a parish, diocese, religious order, or agency of the Catholic Church, and it does not speak for the Church. It carries no imprimatur or nihil obstat.

Church texts we quote are reproduced as published by their sources. The explanations, reflections, and pastoral interpretations around them are our own, are not an official publication of the Catholic Church, and should not be quoted as authoritative.

Third-party services are listed because their remit is publicly documented and relevant. Listing is not a warranty of the quality, availability, or outcome of any service, and it is not an endorsement of every position those organisations hold.

Hours, phone numbers, and eligibility change. Verify details with the service itself, and tell us when a listing is out of date.

Please do not use this site to harass anyone, to impersonate clergy or a mental-health professional, to scrape content for resale, or to present material from here as an official teaching document of the Catholic Church.

Scripture printed in full is Douay-Rheims, which is in the public domain. Copyrighted translations appear only as short excerpts with links to their official publisher text. Traditional prayers are reproduced in their received public domain wording.

Original writing on this site remains the property of its authors. Prayers composed for this site are labelled as original and are free to pray, print, and pass on.
